It has come to our attention that many of you are having additional work performed on your vehicles or are taking them in for repairs or recalls at dealerships. Many times, without your knowledge, the dealership may be reprogramming or updating your engine computer (PCM) because of a directive or service bulletin received from the factory.

You MUST inform your dealership or garage prior to ANY work they perform on the vehicle that you have custom engine computer programming. Any programming for the engine PCM they install will overwrite and erase your custom programming. This will result in any number of the following issues: rough idle, poor hot and cold starts, stalling, poor fuel economy, loss of power, and a potential lean-out or detonation condition which could seriously damage the engine.

This situation is not covered under any Mallett warranty. Charges for these repairs range from $400.00 up, not including the transportation charges to and from the Mallett facilities.

It is of the utmost importance to inform anyone working on your Mallett Conversion that you have custom programming and that they should contact someone at Mallett Cars, Ltd. prior to any upgrades to the PCM. In addition, if any welding is to be performed on the vehicle, the ENGINE PCM MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO ANY WELDING! It is NOT sufficient to just disconnect the battery. Not following these directions can result in a costly repair that can only be accomplished by bringing the vehicle back to our facilities to re-calibrate the computer from scratch. Recalibration takes approximately 2-3 days.
